Meet the team behind PLASTCYCLE!
Golnoush Abbasi (Ph.D.) is a senior scientist at the department of Environmental Impacts and Sustainability at NILU with expertise in Life Cycle assessment of chemicals and substance flow analysis. Her research area focuses on the stocks and flows of hazardous chemicals in consumer products in use and waste phases and the impact of regulations and consumption patterns on the environmental fate of hazardous chemicals on the global scale. She is the PLASTCYCLE project leader.
Marina Hauser (Ph.D.) is a postdoc at the department of Environmental Impacts and Sustainability at NILU. Her doctorate was in environmental systems science. She has strong background in industrial ecology with expertise in material flow modelling and life cycle assessment, especially for the waste management and treatment sector. In the PLASTCYCLE project she will evaluate the flows of plastic in Norway and analyze different recycling scenarios.
Cristina Guerreiro (Ph.D.) is the Research Director of the department of Environmental Impacts and Sustainability at NILU. She has 25 years of experience in producing evidence-based knowledge to support informed decision-making on environment and climate priorities and solutions. She has supported UN Environment Program (UNEP), European (European Environmental Agency and the European Commission), as well as several national and local authorities in the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental and climate policies and measures. She is leading a work package on stakeholder engagement and translation of scientific outcome to formulate effective policy measures.
Evert Bouman (Ph.D.) is a senior scientist at the department of Environmental Impacts and Sustainability at NILU. His main expertise is the development and application of environmental impact assessment models based on Life Cycle Assessment, Input-Output Analysis, and Material Flow Analysis. In the PLASTCYCLE project, he leads the work package on life cycle assessment and scenario analysis of waste management processes.
Miguel Las Heras Hernández is a scientist at the Department of Environmental Impacts and Sustainability at NILU. His research focuses on analyzing the material efficiency of industrial activities and the impacts of material use on the biosphere. He has a background in Industrial Ecology. In the PLASTCYCLE project, he is continuing the work on evaluating polymer flows in Norway and analyzing different recycling scenarios started by Marina Hauser.
Biplab K Datta (Ph.D.) is the Innovation Director at NILU with expertise in innovation process and innovation project management. Dr. Datta has been involved in several game-changing technology development projects for various industries in Norway. He is the industry liaison in PLASTCYCLE.
Dorte Herzke (Ph.D.) is senior scientist at the Environmental Chemistry Department, section for Arctic chemistry at the Fram Centre in Tromsø. She is an analytical chemist with competence within environmental chemistry and has been working over 10 years with microplastics and additives in the environment. Her research focuses on transport and fate of plastic particles and additives in the environment and how they affect ecosystems including humans.
